Commitments With Innovation And Training Mark The Conclusion Of The Lx Copedem Meeting

The Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of the Magistracy (Copedem) closed, last Friday (August 22nd), the LX Meeting, held in the city of Vitória, state of Espírito Santo, with the approval of the Letter of Vitória, document that defines guidelines and commitments aimed at strengthening judicial training and the responsible incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Judiciary.

Among the main points, the Letter emphasizes that the use of Generative AI must respect criteria of ethics, responsibility and human supervision, ensuring the mitigation of biases and the preservation of social trust in Justice, in accordance with the Resolution 615 of the CNJ of 2025.

The document also emphasizes the need for continuous training of magistrates and civil servers, conducted by the Schools of the Judges and Judicial Academies, to ensure the conscious use of new technologies and stimulate innovation aligned with the constitutional mission of the jurisdiction.

Another highlight was the reaffirmation that the Schools of the Judges are, in essence, Government Schools, able to offer lato sensu, presential and distance post graduate courses, through accreditation in the State Education Councils. In this sense, Copedem will forward to the Ministry of Education the request for regulation to enable the offer of courses in EaD (Distance Education), expanding access and permanent qualification of the Judiciary.

The Letter also defends master’s and doctoral programs in network, developed in cooperation between judicial schools and superior education institutions, and it recommends that courts allocate at least 1% of their budgets to training and further training, ensuring financial autonomy of the schools.

The meeting brought together directors and representatives of State Schools of the Judges from all over the country, as well as local authorities, and consolidated the joint commitment to promote educational and technological innovation for the benefit of the Brazilian Justice.
