Tjto Advances Ten Positions In National Ranking Of The Cnj And It Is Top 10 In Index Measuring Sustainability Performance

The report 9th Balance of Sustainability of the Judiciary launched by the National Council of Justice (CNJ) during the 3rd edition of the Sustainable Judiciary held on Monday (June 30th) in the city of Brasilia placed the Court of Justice (TJTO) among the top ten state courts in the sustainability performance index (IDS).

The index evaluates, in a single dimension, the combined result of 14 different indicators with the results of the implementation of sustainability policies by Brazilian courts.  Among the indicators measured are the consumption of electricity and water - per capita and per square meter -; consumption of disposable bottled water; users per vehicle; consumption of disposable cups; transportation costs; paper costs; disposal of material for recycling in relation to the workforce; telephone costs; quantity of printing equipment; percentage of female civil servers in management positions and of female judges promoted by merit.

In the 8th edition of the balance sheet, launched in 2024 with data from 2023, the TJTO was the 20th among the courts, with IDS reaching 65.1% of the indicators. In this 9th edition, the TJTO reached 70.2% and is the 10th in the ranking. The result is celebrated by the president of the Sustainable Logistics Plan Management Commission, Justice Ângela Prudente.

'This historic result is the fruit of the joint efforts of magistrates, judges, civil servers and employees who, with dedication and a sense of responsibility, have been incorporating sustainability as a structuring principle of institutional action. The recognition given by the CNJ not only fills us with pride, but also reinforces our commitment to consolidate a judicial policy that is increasingly aware, efficient and aligned with contemporary challenges, aimed at building a fairer, more balanced and sustainable future."

As well as revealing the new indicators of the Brazilian Judiciary in its quest for sustainability, the 3rd edition of the Sustainable Judiciary presented the Green Judgment Award, held by the CNJ. Also taking part in the 3rd edition of the event from the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins were Arióstenis Guimarães Vieira, an assistant judge to the Presidency, and the employees Cinthia Barbosa Pires Azevedo and Kamilla Sousa Prado.

“As the president of the Management Commission for the Sustainable Logistics Plan, representing the Court in this space for dialog and reflection is also a renewal of the purpose of transforming guidelines into concrete actions, with a positive and lasting impact for the Judiciary, for society and for future generations.  It's a unique opportunity for us to get to know the profile of the Brazilian Judiciary, the good practices of other courts and to move towards an institutional policy that is increasingly committed to sustainability," she said.
