The 6th Task Force of Tax Negotiation of the city of Palmas - Refis 2025 - begins on Monday (June 2nd). The event will be held at the People Park Convention Center until June 8th, with attendance from 8am to 6pm, including Saturday and Sunday. Taxpayers with debts due by April 30th of this year will be able to negotiate debts with special conditions: up to 100% discount on interest and fines in cash payments and easy installment options. You can sign up in person or online via the website: refis2025.palmas.to.gov.br , from the 2nd.
The initiative is the result of a partnership among the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the Palmas City Hall, within the scope of the National Program for Differentiated Governance of Tax Foreclosures, established by the Provision No. 57/2016 of the CNJ.
According to the coordinating judge of the Program on Efficient Tax Enforcement of the TJTO (Profiscal), Gil Araújo Corrêa, Refis is an opportunity not only for taxpayers to regularize their situation, but also to reduce the number of lawsuits related to tax collection.
“REFIS is an important initiative that helps to reduce the number of court cases related to the collection of tax debts. By offering easier conditions for settling debts, such as significant discounts on fines and interest, it helps to relieve the burden on the Judiciary, allowing for the resolution of disputes between taxpayers and the Municipality," said the magistrate.
The judge added that "the action strengthens cooperation between the Judiciary and the Executive, enabling a faster and less costly solution for both the citizen and the Justice System".
The expectation is that more than 10,000 cases will be covered in this edition, with priority given to the biggest debtors, although any citizen can take part, including individuals and companies with debts related to taxes, fees, fines and amounts registered as outstanding debt.
What can be negotiated?
Municipal Law No. 2,619/2021 provides for special discounts and installments for debts such as IPTU, ISS, ITBI, public prices, debts with Banco do Povo (People Bank), among others. The percentages and terms vary according to the type of debt and the payment method chosen.
